We have been using
latex in our every day life since
the 1920ˇ¦s. Latex is present in items
like wall paint, childrenˇ¦s balls,
our clothing, mattresses, and car
tires. In recent years, there has
been a great amount of attention on
the increased occurrence of latex
allergies. In fact, statistics show
that 8-12% of healthcare workers are
latex sensitive. However, this information
and statistic can not be applied to
the latex foam products produced by
DSC. In a study conducted by the FDA
over a four-year period, over 1,118
recorded incidents of latex allergies
were documented. Each of these complaints
was related to products with medical
utility. With over 30 years in the
industry, we have never received a
report or complaint of an allergic
reaction to our products. Why? Because
there is a distinct difference between
the process used to make such items
as rubber latex gloves used in medical
facilities and the process by which
our products are made, a profound
difference in the methods used to
clean our products versus other latex
products, and a difference in the
manufacturing standards in which our
mattresses and pillows are held.
