The natural latex foam manufacturing process begins
on rubber tree plantations found in the equatorial
regions of the world. Latex Rubber is harvested
from trees in a similar fashion to maple syrup,
as only about 10oz a day of natural latex rubber
sap can be safely harvested each day from millions
of protected trees on the plantation. Every HT
Processed? latex foam product begins with this
precious, renewable natural resource.
The latex is then passed to a
latex refinery, where it is blended and improved
for use mattress and pillow designs. When the
latex has been mixed to a perfect HT blend it
is whipped up into foam and poured into moulds
with pin holes made in pillow and mattress shapes
and baked for 30 minutes. The pins in the mold
create air holes in the pillow that enhance
the natural breathability of the latex foam.
The entire process is so similar to making a
cake that in the early days of latex foam manufacturing
the machines for mixing and baking cakes and
mixing and baking latex foam were exactly the
same.
Today there are many different
processes for making latex foam, each retaining
the basic steps listed above while adding some
nuances that provide something unique to the
end product. Still, almost all latex foam products
have the following inherent qualities that make
them excellent sleep products:
+ Naturally anti-microbial, anti-fungal,
and anti-bacterial
+ Proven to be over 300% more effective in resisting
the growth of dust mites
+ Hypo-allergenic when washed properly
+ Proven to be an excellent for cushioning and
supporting your body while you sleep.
+ Natural and biodegradable
+ Open cellular structure allowing maximum breathability.
Why is all this important?
Well, firstly, by reducing the amount of bacteria,
fungus, microbes, and dust mites in your bed
you can greatly reduce the risk of contracting
bacterial infections and viruses while you sleep.
What's more, dust mites have been proven to
be one of the leading causes of allergies in
the world; by preventing dust mites from entering
your bed you reduce the risk of contracting
allergies.
